Directions

STEP 1

  • Print out pattern. (Note: Use six strands floss for stitching throughout.)

STEP 2

  • Cut tags from washcloth. Fold washcloth in half so decorative band runs across bottom.

Frog Puppet

  • 1. Transfer nostrils and mouth to washcloth following pattern (top of nostrils should be 1-1/4” from top of washcloth). Stem stitch nostrils and mouth.
  • 2. Drybrush cheeks Neon Yellow.
  • 3. Cut eyes from green craft foam. Cut two 1-1/4” white craft foam circles. Adhere white circles to green eyes. Sew black buttons to white circles, sewing in and out through holes. Adhere bottom of green eyes inside top of washcloth.
  • 4. Blanket stitch around side and top edges of washcloth, beginning at bottom of decorative trim on side (embroider stitches so floss wraps around washcloth edge). Embroider stitches through foam eye shape at top, working stitches in two steps by inserting needle through foam in front, then bringing needle back through washcloth from back side.
  • 5. Fold washcloth up at bottom edge of decorative trim. Blanket stitch around finished edge of washcloth, securing to bottom of puppet head.

  • 5. Blanket stitch around side and top edges of washcloth, beginning at bottom of decorative trim on side (embroider stitches so floss wraps around washcloth edge). Embroider stitches through foam spikes at top, working stitches in two steps by inserting needle through foam in front, then bringing needle back through washcloth from back side.
  • 6. Fold washcloth up at bottom edge of decorative trim. Blanket stitch around finished edge of washcloth, securing to bottom of puppet head.

Duck Puppet

  • 1. Cut bill from orange craft foam. Transfer nostrils to bill. Adhere shape to washcloth, placing adhesive under nostrils (top of bill should be 4” from top of washcloth). Stem stitch nostrils, working stitches in two steps by inserting needle through foam in front, then bringing needle back through washcloth from back side.
  • 2. Drybrush cheeks Bright Pink.
  • 3. For eyes, cut two 1-1/4” circles from white craft foam. Adhere eyes above bill. Sew black buttons to white circles, sewing in and out through holes.
  • 4. Blanket stitch around side and top edges of washcloth, beginning and ending at bottom of decorative trim on side. Embroider stitches so floss wraps around washcloth edge.
  • 5. Fold washcloth up at bottom edge of decorative trim. Blanket stitch around finished edge of washcloth, securing to bottom of puppet head.
