Spider Candy Bars

Materials

  • FOR EACH:
  • Candy bar
  • Creative Paperclay Delight Air-Dry Clay: White
  • DecoArt Halloween Acrylic Paints: Pumpkin Orange, Ghoulish Green, Ghost White, Panic Purple
  • Purple tissue paper
  • Purple pony beads, 24
  • Orange chenille stems, two
  • Black seed beads, two
  • White string or yarn

Tools

  • Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Paintbrushes
  • Toothpick
  • Newspaper (to cover work surface)

Directions

STEP 1

  • On clean work surface, remove clay from package. To condition, roll clay in hands until soft, bending and rolling until pliable. If clay cracks, keep conditioning.

STEP 2

  • For spider, roll one 1/2” (head) and one 1” (body) clay balls. Insert toothpick into side of body and into side of head. Use toothpick to make four holes (for legs) on each side of body and draw smile on head. For eyes, roll two small balls. Press seed beads (for pupils) in eyes. Set clay items aside to dry.

STEP 3

  • On covered work surface, paint body and head Pumpkin Orange. Let dry. Add Panic Purple spots on body and head and Ghoulish Green dots on sides of smile. Let dry.

STEP 4

  • Glue eyes on head.

STEP 5

  • For legs, fold each chenille stem into four equal sections. Cut on folds. Insert legs into holes on sides of body; bend ends into feet. Thread purple pony beads on legs.

STEP 6

  • Wrap candy bar in purple tissue paper. Tie white string around candy bar; knot ends.

STEP 7

  • Glue spider on top of candy bar. Let dry.
