  • Cardboard scrap
  • Gold metal brad, 1/4”
  • White copy paper

  • Circle paper punch, 1-3/4”
  • Markers, in colors of choice
  • Photocopy machine
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Black marker

Directions

STEP 1

  • For game board, measure and cut 26”x18” rectangle from red foam core board.

STEP 2

  • Print and cut out patterns. Copy spinner onto yellow cardstock. Glue red arrow onto cardboard scrap; cut out.

STEP 3

  • Use hole punch to punch hole on bottom of arrow and on middle of spinner. Insert metal brad on hole on arrow and on spinner; bend ends on back.

STEP 4

  • For game instructions, copy the "How To Play" onto yellow cardstock.

STEP 5

  • For caterpillar’s body, cut the following from green cardstock: two 6” circles, one 5” circle, one 4” circle, one 2-1/2” circle, one 1-1/2” circle. For caterpillar’s head, cut one 6” orange cardstock circle. For eyes, cut two 1-1/2” yellow cardstock ovals. For pupils, cut two 1” black cardstock circles. For nose, cut 1” green cardstock circle. Use hole punch to punch two small white highlights for eyes.

STEP 6

  • Using photo as guide, glue caterpillar body on bottom of game board. Glue head, eyes, nose, and antennae on one end of body. Glue legs along bottom of body. Glue game instructions and spinner on top of board.

STEP 7

  • Use black marker to add smile on face and details on body.

STEP 8

  • Copy game pieces onto white cardstock circles; cut out. Use markers to color in game pieces as desired.

How To Play

  • 1. Place all food pieces into the bag and shake. Each player takes turns drawing out pieces until they are all gone. Then each player takes a turn spinning, if the arrow lands on one of the foods in your pile then you can feed it to the caterpillar by placing it inside his stomach. If the spinner lands on a food that you do not have then your turn is over and the next player spins. If the spinner lands on the caterpillar’s sour face then that player must remove all of the food that he/she has placed in the caterpillar. However, the lucky player who drew the sour face at the beginning of the game can place this piece onto the board instead of removing all of his/her pieces (this piece can only be played once during each game.) The first player to feed all of his/her food to the caterpillar wins!

Fabric Bag

  • 1. To make a fabric bag to hold game pieces, cut 7”x16” fabric rectangle. Fold right sides together, glue or sew along edges. For casing, fold top edge under; glue or sew seams. Insert ribbon length through casing; pull to close.
