  • 1. Sizes are: 2 years (4 years, 6 years, 8 years, 10 years).

Gauge

  • 1. In waistband pattern, 17 sts and 18 rows = 4”; in upper bodice pattern, 16 sts and 16 rows = 4”; in skirt pattern, 15 sts and 8 rows = 4”.

Special Stitches

  • 1. fsc: foundation single crochet (This technique creates foundation chain and row of single crochet stitches in one. Step 1: Place slip knot on hook, ch 2, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook and draw up loop; yarn over and draw through one loop on hook (the “chain”); yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook (the “single crochet”). Step 2: Insert hook into “chain” of previous stitch and draw up one loop, yarn over and draw through one loop on hook (the “chain”), yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook (the “single crochet”). Repeat for length of foundation.
  • 2. Petals: (Sc, [ch 6, sc] 3 times) in next st. (Note: Each ch-6 forms one petal).
  • 3. sc2tog: Single crochet 2 together – Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and draw up one loop, (2 loops on hook), insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and draw up one loop, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Note

  • 1. Front and back bodice are worked from lower edge of waistband up to shoulders. Front and back bodice are worked back and forth in rows. Skirt is worked in rounds, from lower edge of bodice downwards.

Back Bodice: waistband

  • 1. Fsc 45 (49, 53, 55, 59).
  • 2. Rows 1–15: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Back Bodice: upper section

  • 1. Work same as front, all the way through Edging.

Bodice Assembly

  • 1. Hold front and back bodice with RS together. Work from WS, sew side seams and shoulder seams.

Skirt

  • 1. Round 1: With RS facing, join yarn with sc in lower edge of waistband at side seam, work a total of 47 (50, 53, 56, 59) sc evenly spaced around waistband; join with sl st in first sc.
  • 2. Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, *sk next 2 sts, 3 sc in next st; repeat from * to last st, sk last st; join with sl st in first sc—46 (49, 52, 55, 58) sts.
  • 3. Rounds 3-4: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, *3 sc in center sc of next 3-sc group; repeat from * around; join with sl st in first sc.
  • 4. Round 5: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, *5 sc in center sc of next 3-sc group; repeat from * around; join with sl st in first sc.
  • 5. Rounds 6-7: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, *5 sc in center sc of next 5-sc group; repeat from * around; join with sl st in first sc.
  • 6. Round 8: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, *5 hdc in center sc of next 5-sc group; repeat from * around; do not join, work in continuous rounds. Place a marker for beginning of round and move marker up as each round is completed.
  • 7. Round 9: Work 5 hdc in first sc, *5 hdc in center hdc of next 5-hdc group; repeat from * around; do not join.
  • 8. Rounds 10–21 (23, 25, 27, 29): Work 5 hdc in center hdc of each 5-hdc group around. Sl st in next st. Fasten off. (Note: To adjust length of skirt, work last round more or fewer times, as desired.)

Finishing

  • 1. Using yarn needle, weave in all ends. Block lightly, if desired.
