Basic Supplies

scissors, ruler

Directions

STEP 1

  • Measure and cut 9-1/2"x 20" crepe paper rectangle. On center of rectangle, add small amount fiberfill stuffing (owl's body). Fold rectangle over body; adhere. Continue folding over body, like wrapping a present. Leave one end open.

STEP 2

  • For tail, gather open end. Measure and cut 6" brown string length. Tie length around tail. Knot ends.

STEP 3

  • Print and cut out patterns. Cut ears from recycled cereal box. Adhere crepe paper on cereal box cutout. Cut beak from yellow cardstock; adhere to center bottom edge of ears as shown in photo.

STEP 4

  • For eyes, measure and cut four 1-1/4" circles from recycled cereal box. Cut twenty 1/4” squares from crepe paper. Adhere squares on edges of eyes, creating “feather” look. Adhere beige pupils on eyes. Adhere red rhinestones on center of eyes.

STEP 5

  • Adhere ears and eyes on body. Let dry.

STEP 6

  • Use brown marker to draw feathers on body and "fringe" on feathers around eyes.

STEP 7

  • Use brown string to tie owl's tail around stick or twig.

STEP 8

  • Repeat Steps 1-7 to make another owl.

STEP 9

  • To hang, insert safety pin through back of owl's body. Measure and cut 24" length of fishing line. Insert fishing line through safety pin. Knot ends together.

Tip

  • 1. Substitute brown crepe paper with thin recycled brown paper bag.
