Textured Frame Trio

Materials

  • Wooden frames, various sizes, three
  • Cavallini & Co. Botanical Postcards (or other designs), three
  • Scrapbook script print paper, 12”x12” sheet, one

Tools

  • The Crafter’s Workshop Stencils: Flower Frenzy (TCW157), Brocade (TCW195)
  • Liquitex Flexible Modeling Paste
  • Ranger Tim Holtz eDistress Crackle Paint: Picket Fence
  • Martha Stewart Crafts Multi Surface Acrylic Paint: Putty, Acorn
  • White acrylic paint
  • Satin varnish
  • Beacon Adhesives: Quick Grip All-Purpose Permanent Adhesive, Zip Dry Paper Glue

Basic Supplies

scissors, ruler, pencil, fine sandpaper, paper towels, foam paintbrush, stencil brush, palette knife, clamps (optional)

Directions

Frame 1

  • 1. Using foam brush, paint frame Putty. Let dry.
  • 2. Position Brocade stencil on frame. Apply modeling paste across stencil with palette knife. Gently lift and remove stencil; let paste dry.
  • 3. Gently sand across raised stenciled design using fine sandpaper. Wipe clean with damp paper towel.
  • 4. Apply white paint sparingly to edges of frame with scrunched paper towel. Let dry.

Frame 2

  • 1. Using foam brush, paint frame Acorn. Let dry.
  • 2. Position Flower Frenzy stencil on frame. Using stencil brush, paint frame white. Let dry.
  • 3. Apply white paint sparingly to edges of frame with scrunched paper towel. Let dry.

Frame 3

  • 1. Using foam brush, paint frame Acorn. Let dry.
  • 2. Follow manufacturer’s instructions to apply Picket Fence Crackle on frame. Let dry, allowing cracks to appear.

Assemble Frames

  • 1. Apply one coat varnish on all frames. Let dry.
  • 2. Using Quick Grip adhesive, adhere frames together, creating one unit. Clamp frames together if necessary until glue has set.
  • 3. Insert or mat (with text paper) postcards into each frame using Zip Dry Paper Glue.

Tip

  • 1. Experiment adhering frames together, creating a square or rectangle shape.
