  • Simply Soft Heathers (100% acrylic; 250 yd./229m, 5 oz/148g): Denim Heather, 15 (20, 20, 25, 25) oz/444 (592, 592, 740, 740)g

  • Straight needles, one pair each: U.S. size 7 (4.5mm); U.S. size 6 (4mm)
  • Circular needle, U.S. size 6 (4mm), 16” (40.5cm) long
  • Needle, size 7 (4.5mm), 24” (61cm) long
  • Stitch markers, four
  • Stitch holder
  • Cable needle (cn)
  • Yarn needle

Directions

Gauge

  • 1. In Woven Moss Stitch, using larger needles, 18 sts and 26 rows = 4”/10cm
  • 2. In Overall Pattern, using larger needles, 19 sts and 26 rows = 4”/10cm
  • 3. Cross 6 Back (C6B): Slip next 3 sts to cn and hold in back, k3, k3 front cn.
  • 4. Cross 6 Front (C6F): Slip next 3 sts to cn and hold in front, k3, k3 from cn.

Finished Measurements:

  • 1. Bust: 37 (40-1/2, 46, 49-1/2, 53)”/94 (103, 117, 125.5, 134.5)cm

  • 1. Row 1 (RS): K2, p2, k6, p2, k2.
  • 2. Row 2 and all WS rows: P2, k2, p6, k2, p2.
  • 3. Row 3: K2, p2, C6B, p2, k2.
  • 4. Row 5: K2, p2, k6, p2, k2.
  • 5. Row 6: Rep Row 2.
  • 6. Rep Rows 1-6 for Back Cross Cable panel.

Front Cross Cable Panel (panel of 14 sts)

  • 1. Row 1 (RS): K2, p2, k6, p2, k2.

Back

  • 1. Using smaller straight needles, CO 90 (98, 110, 118, 126) sts.
  • 2. Row 1 (RS): P0 (2, 0, 2, 0), *k2, p2, rep from * across to last 2 (4, 2, 4, 2) sts, end k2, p 0 (2, 0, 2, 0).
  • 3. Row 2: K0 (2, 0, 2, 0) *p 2, k2, rep from * across to last 2 (4, 2, 4, 2) sts, end p2, k0 (2, 0, 2, 0).
  • 4. Rep Rows 1 and 2 for rib until piece measures 3” from CO edge, end with WS row, Change to straight larger needles.
  • 5. Establish Overall Pattern
  • 6. Row 1 (RS): K2 (0, 2, 0, 2) for St st, work Woven Moss St across next 10 (14, 14, 18, 18) sts, pm (place marker), work Back Cross Cable Panel over next 14 sts, pm, work Woven Moss St over next 38 (42, 50, 54, 58) sts, pm, work Front Cross Cable Panel over next 14 sts, pm, work Woven Moss St over next 10 (14, 14, 18, 18) sts, end k2 (0, 2, 0, 2) for St st.
  • 7. Work as est until piece measures 12-1/2 (12-1/4, 12, 11-3/4, 11-1/2)” from CO edge, end with WS row.

Shape Armholes

  • 1. BO 6 (6, 8, 10, 10) sts at beg of next 2 rows—78 (86, 94, 98, 106) sts.
  • 2. Dec 1 st each side every other row 4 (6, 6, 6, 8) times as follows:
  • 3. K2, ssk, work in est patt to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2— 70 (74, 82, 86, 90) sts.
  • 4. Work even until armhole measures 7-1/2 (8, 8-1/2, 9, 9-1/2)”, end with a WS row.

Shape Shoulders and Neck

  • 1. BO 6 (6, 8, 8, 8) sts at beg of next 2 rows, then 6 (7, 7, 8, 9) sts at beg of next 4 rows, Place rem 34 (34, 38, 38, 38) sts on holder for Back neck.

Front

  • 1. Work as for Back until piece measures 12-1/2 (12-1/4, 12, 11-3/4, 11-1/2)” from CO edge, end with a WS row.

Shape Armholes and Neck

  • 1. (RS) BO 6 (6, 8, 10, 10) sts, work until there are 22 (26, 28, 30, 34) sts beyond BO sts, join 2nd ball of yarn, BO next 34 (34, 38, 38, 38) sts for neck, finish row.
  • 2. (WS) BO 6 (6, 8, 10, 10) sts at beg of next row--22 (26, 28, 30, 34) sts rem each side of neck.
  • 3. Working both sides at the same time, work armhole decs same as for Back--18 (20, 22, 24, 26) sts rem each side. Work even until armhole measures same as Back to shoulder, end with WS row.

Shape Shoulders

  • 1. BO at each shoulder edge 6 (6, 8, 8, 8) sts once, then 6 (7, 7, 8, 9) sts twice.

Finishing

  • 1. Sew shoulder and side seams.

Collar

  • 1. With RS facing and larger circular needle, beginning at right lower edge of neck opening, make a slip knot on needle for seam st, pick up 48 (52, 56, 60, 64) sts up right front neck edge, work in 2x2 rib across 34 (34, 38, 38, 38) sts on back neck from holder, pick up 48 (52, 56, 60, 64) sts down rem left front neck edge, CO 1 st for seam st--132 (140, 152, 160, 168) sts.
  • 2. Row 1 (WS): P3, k2, *p2, k2, rep from * across, end p3.
  • 3. Row 2: K3, p2, *k2, p2, rep from * across, end k3.
  • 4. Rep Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures 7-1/2 (7-1/2, 8-1/2, 8-1/2, 8-1/2)”. BO loosely in rib.
  • 5. Overlap right edge over left and sew edge of collar to BO sts of Front neck.

Armband

  • 1. With RS facing and smaller circular needle, beginning at underarm seam, pick up 80 (84, 88, 92, 96) sts around armhole edge. Join and pm. Work around in 2x2 rib for 4 rnds. BO loosely in rib.
