  • Old paperback books
  • Frame with wide edge
  • Pearl beads

  • Sakura PenTouch Silver Calligrapher Pen
  • Glue gun and sticks

Basic Supplies

  • scissors, hair dryer
  • Note
  • 1. Adult supervision and safety gear required if children will be using hot glue gun.
  • Frame
  • 1. To make rosette, tear three pages at a time from book.
  • 2. Holding cap, shake PenTouch pen before using. Press tip down several times to get ink flowing.
  • 3. Starting at long, un-torn edge of pages, draw spiral shape, circling inward counter-clockwise. Stay within edges of paper. Keep lines less than 1" apart. If ink flow slows, press down on tip again and keep drawing. Try to keep line thick.
  • 4. To cut out spiral shape, cut in center of line so edges on both sides of cut are gilded with PenTouch ink.
  • 5. Flip over spiral and use PenTouch to trace cut edge on back side.
  • 6. To turn spiral into rosette, begin rolling rosette from outer edge. Make center fairly tight. Once it is started, hold paper between two fingers, and roll it quickly using other hand.
  • 7. When paper is rolled, there will be a circle flap remaining at end. Add generous amount of hot glue to flap, and then press coiled center of rosette down. Pinch rosette between thumb and finger for a few moments while glue cools.
  • 8. Adhere pearl beads to center of paper flower for added dimension. Vary number of beads for interest.
  • 9. Repeat Steps 1-8 to create enough rosettes to cover entire frame.
  • 10. Use glue gun to adhere first rosette to frame's edge. Continue to adhere rosettes to frame by placing them tightly together for full effect. Continue until entire frame is covered in rosettes.
  • Tip
  • 1. Don't worry about making your spirals perfect or your rosettes uniform. It looks better when the flowers are slightly different. You can get rid of any unsightly glue strands with a hair dryer.
