Basic Supplies

  • paper trimmer, scissors, ruler, pencil
  • 1. Make 4-1/4"x5-1/2" dark blue side-fold card. Cut 4"x5-1/4" light blue panel; glue panel to card.
  • 2. Follow manufacturer's instructions to apply handle to mermaid stamp. Stamp black mermaid image onto white cardstock; trim to 3"x4-1/2". Round top corners of panel with punch.
  • 3. Using photo as guide, color image with markers or desired medium. Let dry completely.
  • 4. Apply VersaMark ink over entire stamped panel using direct-to-paper method. Cover panel with clear embossing powder; tap to remove excess and return it to container.
  • 5. Sprinkle Shabby Blue Embossing Enamel, Powder Blue Color Fragments, Steel Blue and Fresh Green Crushed Glass Glitters, and Shaved Ice randomly over embossing powder.
  • 6. Using heat-embossing tool, heat powders from underneath panel. This prevents powders from blowing away from image. Heat until finishes are raised and shiny.
  • 7. Cut 3-1/4"x4-3/4" dark blue panel; round top corners with punch. Glue stamped panel to blue panel.
  • 8. Holding silk cords together, wrap cords twice around bottom of layered panel. To secure, insert cord ends through holes in button; knot cords and trim ends.
  • 9. Sprinkle Shabby Blue Embossing Enamel over upper left and lower right corners of layered card base. Heat from underneath to set powder.
  • 10. Adhere stamped panel to card with foam squares.
  • Tip
  • 1. Using a heat-embossing tool, always heat powders from underneath the panel to avoid blowing powders from image. As embossing powder melts, it will adhere other embellishments to the surface.
