Materials

  • Grafix .005 Matte Dura-lar, 9”x12”
  • Glass jar

Tools

  • Jacquard Marbling Kit containing: Carrageenan (marbling medium), Marbling Colors in Red, Blue, Black, White, Violet, Yellow
  • Stylus and hair combs
  • Blender
  • Jacquard Lumiere 3D Clear Adhesive

Basic Supplies

  • gallon bucket, ruler, mixing and measuring spoons, baking tray or pan, 15”x10”x1”, scissors and craft knife, paper towels or newsprint

Pattern - Marbled Candle Jar

  • 1. Follow manufacturer's instructions on marbling kit to blend carrageenan and quart of water in blender for one minute. Pour into bucket; fill with water until volume equals one gallon. Mix smooth. Fill tray to 3/4" level with mixture.

  • 2. Drip paints from dropper bottles onto surface, beginning with Black. Manipulate suspended paints with stylus and comb over mixture, dragging paint in long lines.

  • 3. Holding film by diagonal corners, allow center to touch paint mixture, and release corners so film falls onto surface. Immediately remove film from surface. Let film dry wet side up. Remove paint from carrageenan surface using paper towel. To marble again, repeat Step 2 adding paint to mixture.
  • 4. Print out full-size pattern. Cut owl from marbled film. Adhere owl onto glass jar.
