Valentine Teacher Vase

Materials

  • Duncan: Oh Four Bisque: Medium Free Form Vase
  • Underglazes: Dark Black, Light Pink, French Really Red, Electric Plum
  • Glazes: Pure Brilliance Clear Glaze
  • Signature Brushes: No. 4 Liner, No. 6 Fan Glaze

Tools

  • Sponge
  • Ruler
  • Aluminum foil
  • Masking tape
  • Newspaper (to cover work surface)
  • 1. Wipe all surfaces of vase with damp sponge to remove dust.
  • 2. Measure and mark around vase 1-3/4" from bottom.
  • 3. On covered work surface, pour small amount Light Pink inside vase. Roll vase to cover all sides. Pour out excess.
  • 4. Use paintbrush to paint inside top and bottom portion of vase Light Pink. Use paintbrush to paint remaining areas Dark Black. Let dry.
  • 5. Use Really Red to draw heart on side of vase. Use Electric Plum and Really Red to draw swirls and dots on vase. Let dry.
  • 6. Pour small amount Clear Glaze inside vase. Roll vase to cover all sides. Pour out excess. Apply Clear Glaze to outside of vase. Let dry.
  • 7. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.
  • Tip
  • 1. When painting, pour underglaze on aluminum foil. Apply three coats of each underglaze. Let dry between coats.
