Claude Monet Water Lilies

  • Claude Monet Water Lilies


  • White construction paper, 12” square
  • Watercolor paints
  • Oil pastels
  • Salt
  • Water


  • Paintbrush
  • Newspaper (to cover work surface)
  • 1. Find images of water lilies from online resources or encyclopedias. Print images for reference.
  • 2. Use oil pastels to draw water lilies on white paper. Lightly shade to add dimension.
  • 3. On covered work surface, paint water lilies with watercolors. While still wet, sprinkle painting with salt. (Salt acts to pull the colors.) Let dry. Lightly brush salt from painting.
  • 4. If desired, use heavyduty construction paper to create frame for painting. Glue painting inside frame.
