Ring Toss Game

  • Ring Toss Game


  • Recycled cardboard or foam core board, 13" circle
  • Craft foam, 9”x12" sheets: blue, white
  • Wooden spools, five
  • Recycled white plastic lids, three or more
  • Blue painters’ tape


  • Craft knife (optional)
  • Acrylic paints: red, white
  • Cardboard scrap (for pattern)
  • Tacky glue

Basic Supplies

  • scissors, ruler, pencil, paintbrush, newspaper (to cover work surface)

Pattern - Ring Toss Game

  • 1. Print out pattern. Trace pattern onto cardboard scrap (for template). Cut five star sections from blue craft foam and five star sections from white craft foam.
  • 2. Adults, help kids when using craft knife. Measure and cut 13" circle from cardboard or foam core board.
  • 3. On covered work surface, paint cardboard circle red and wooden spools white. Let dry.
  • 4. Using photo as guide, arrange craft foam star sections on center of circle. Glue star sections on circle.
  • 5. Apply blue painters' tape onto edge of circle. Wrap edges of tape along front and back of board, creating border.
  • 6. Glue spools on circle between each star point. Let dry.
  • 7. For rings, cut center from plastic lids.
  • 8. To play game, divide participants into teams of equal numbers. Have each team toss rings onto spools. For more variety, create different-size rings to add difficulty when tossing.
  • Tip
  • 1. For a greater challenge, position circle on a Lazy Susan and spin when each player is tossing rings.
