  • Felted Flower
  • 1. Tear or cut off a 4"x4" piece of wool roving. Divide wool roving piece in half by pulling apart. Lay one half on top of needle felting mat. Lay the second half on top, in the same fashion, but position this piece so that it's perpendicular to the first layer. Make sure when laying out the wool there are no open holes or thin spots. Fill in any thin areas with a small tuft of wool. The number of layers determines how thick the finished project will be. You can always add another layer for thickness if needed.
  • 2. Poke the layers of wool with the needle felting tool in an up and down motion.
  • 3. After one side is starting to look felted, gently pull up wool piece and felt the other side in the same manner.
  • 4. To create flower shape, fold a small piece toward the center of the wool and poke with a single refill needle to hold in place. Continue to sculpt round flower shape by folding in small sections and poking with the single needle. Once you have the desired shape, use the needle felting tool to felt all over once more.
  • 5. To create flower center, tear or cut a 2"x2" piece of wool roving. Follow steps 1-3 for felting the flower.
  • 6. Fold corners into the center and poke with a single needle to create a round ball shape. Once you get the desired shape, center it on top of flower and use the needle felting tool to poke through all layers to attach.
  • 7. Sew crystal beads onto center of flower.
  • 8. Sew snaps onto back of flower.
  • 9. Repeat steps 1-8 two more times in order to create three flowers for tote.
