Materials

  • Hammered antique brass rings, 15mm, five
  • Swarovski Caribbean Blue Opal Crystal Bicones, 4mm, 38
  • Czech glass green iris top-drilled leaf beads, 7x12mm, 24
  • Light gray pearls, 8mm, 10
  • Etched glass blue AB sunflower beads, 9mmx14mm, four
  • Antique brass leaf clasp, 15x35mm
  • Gold-plated wire, 24-gauge

  • Jewelry pliers: round-nose, chain-nose
  • Wire cutters

Directions

  • 1. Cut 4" wire length. Make wrapped loop 1” from end by grasping wire with round-nose pliers. Bend tail of wire 90° over pliers. Move pliers to grip wire just above 90° turn. Grab tail of wire with fingers; wrap it around pliers to make partial loop. Slide one half of clasp onto partial loop. Reposition pliers in loop and finish pulling wire around pliers to complete loop. Wrap tail around straight wire twice. Trim tail using wire cutters.
  • 2. Slide bicone onto wire. Grasp wire just beyond bicone with round-nose pliers and bend tail of wire 90° over pliers. Move pliers to grip wire just above 90° turn. Grab tail of wire with fingers; wrap it around pliers to make partial loop. Reposition pliers in loop and finish pulling wire around pliers to complete loop. Wrap tail around straight wire twice. Trim tail using wire cutters.
  • 3. To make pearl component, cut 5” wire length. Make wrapped loop around loop of bicone component created in Step 2. Slide bicone, pearl, and bicone onto wire. Grasp wire just beyond last bead with round-nose pliers and bend tail of wire 90° over pliers. Move pliers to grip wire just above 90° turn. Grab tail of wire with fingers; wrap it around pliers to make partial loop. Slide one hammered ring onto partial loop. Reposition pliers in loop and finish pulling wire around pliers to complete loop. Wrap tail around straight wire twice. Trim tail using wire cutters.
  • 4. Cut 4” wire length. Make wrapped loop around hammered ring. Slide bicone, pearl, and bicone onto wire. Finish end with wrapped loop. See Photo 1. (see photos)
  • 5. To make leaves component, cut 5" wire length. Make wrapped loop around loop of ring-bicone-pearl-bicone component from Step 4. Slide bicone, three leaf beads, and bicone onto wire. Point leaves in alternating directions as shown. See Photo 2. Finish end with wrapped loop. (see photos)
  • 6. Cut 4” wire length. Make wrapped loop around loop of bicone-leaves-bicone component from Step 5. Slide sunflower bead onto wire. Finish end with wrapped loop. See Photo 3. (see photos)
  • 7. Hooking first loop onto previous component, continue adding wrapped loop components following necklace pattern: leaf clasp, bicone, pearl component, hammered ring, pearl component, leaves component, sunflower bead, leaves component, pearl component, hammered ring, pearl component, leaves component, sunflower bead, leaves component, pearl component, hammered ring, pearl component, leaves component, sunflower bead, leaves component, pearl component, hammered ring, pearl component, leaves component, sunflower bead, leaves component, pearl component, hammered ring, pearl component, bicone, leaf clasp.
  • 8. Finish by connecting other half of clasp with bicone component.

  • 1. This necklace is opera length as shown, but it can be easily made to any desired length.
