Directions

  • Snowman
  • 1. Use blue floss to cross-stitch top row of sky. Following chart, continue stitching sky blue and snowman white.
  • 2. Use one strand black floss and straight stitches to outline snowman, mouth, and snow at bottom. (Note: To give snowman a more rounded look, stitch diagonally across points around body.) Use two strands black floss to straight stitch arms, and to make French knots at eye and chest dots, wrapping floss around needle once for each knot.
  • 3. Use two strands white floss to straight stitch snowflake stars, and to make French knots at snow dots, wrapping floss around needle twice for each knot. Use white floss to sew orange seed bead to face between eyes and mouth.
  • 4. For hanger, use pliers to bend wire ends. Insert wire ends through openings in corner stars on brass plate. Bend wire ends into loop to secure.
  • 5. For backing, cut felt to same size as stitched area of brass plate; glue to back.

  • 2. Cross-stitch: outer body Black; inner body White; beak and feet Orange; scarf Fuchsia.
  • 3. Use two strands of Fuchsia floss to stitch fringe lines on scarf. Use one strand of Black floss to outline penguin and scarf details, and top ridge of snow. (Note: Stitch diagonally across points rather than squaring off edges.) Use two strands of Black floss to make French knots at eye dots, wrapping floss around needle one time for each knot.
  • 4. For hanger, thread 10” length of six strands of Turquoise floss through eyelet in top of brass plate; knot ends.
