Reindeer Gift Bag & Mini Favor Bags


Materials

  • REINDEER GIFT BAG:
  • Red felt, 9”x12”
  • Tan (or light brown) felt scrap
  • 6-strand Embroidery Floss (DMC): Blanc (White); Black (#310)
  • Lime green or white marabou trim, 13” length
  • Silver chenille stems, 6mm, 12” lengths, two
  • Black pom-pom, 1/2”
  • White pom-pom trim, 3/8”, 6” length
  • Red/white dot ribbon, 3/8”, 10” length
  • Red acrylic paint
  • Glitter: crystal; silver
  • MINI REINDEER FAVOR BAGS:
  • Red felt, 4-1/2”x12”
  • Tan (or light brown) felt scrap
  • 6-strand Embroidery Floss (DMC): Blanc (White); Black (#310)
  • Silver chenille stem, 6mm, 12” length
  • Black pom-pom, 1/2”
  • White pom-pom trim, 3/8”, 4” length
  • Candy striped cord trim, 9” length
  • Red acrylic paint
  • Glitter: crystal; silver

Directions

  • Reindeer Gift Bag
  • 1. Print and cut out patterns. Cut 9”x12” red felt rectangle in half for two 6”x9” rectangles.
  • 2. Cut large reindeer head from tan felt.
  • 3. Large reindeer head from tan felt. Gently dry brush cheeks red. Apply thin layer of clear tacky glue to cheeks; sprinkle with glitters.
  • 4. Use photo as guide to bend two chenille stems into antlers. Trim bottom ends as desired.
  • 5. Position antlers and reindeer head as desired onto front of one felt piece. Hot glue antlers, then baste head so it slightly overlaps bottom of antlers.
  • 6. Use two strands of black floss to blanket stitch around head and make French knots for eyes.
  • 7. Sew or hot glue black pom-pom nose to face.
  • 8. Place two felt pieces wrong sides together. Pin if desired. Use two strands of white floss to blanket stitch around edges, leaving top edge open.
  • 9. Cut a 6” length of white pom-pom trim. Hot glue trim to back bottom of bag.
  • 10. For hanger, cut a 10” length from ribbon. Sew ribbon ends onto inside edges of bag.
  • 11. Hot glue marabou trim to top edges of bag with ends at back. If desired, attach a “Magic Reindeer Feed” gift tag to bag.
  • Mini Reindeer Favor Bags
  • 1. Print and cut out patterns.
  • 2. Cut small reindeer head from tan felt.
  • 3. Gently dry brush cheeks red. Apply thin layer of clear tacky glue to cheeks; sprinkle with glitters.
  • 4. Cut chenille stem in half. Use photo as guide to bend stem halves into antlers. Trim bottom ends as desired.
  • 5. Fold red felt in half, with folded edge at bottom. Position antlers and reindeer head as desired. Hot glue antlers, then baste head so it slightly overlaps bottom of antlers.
  • 6. Open felt piece flat for stitching. Use two strands of black floss to blanket stitch around head and make French knots for eyes.
  • 7. Sew or hot glue black pom-pom nose to face.
  • 8. Fold red felt in half again. Pin if desired. Use two strands of white floss to blanket stitch sides, leaving top edge open.
  • 9. Cut a 4-1/2” length of white pom-pom trim. Hot glue trim to back bottom of bag.
  • 10. For hanger, cut a 9” length from cord. Hot glue cord ends to inside edges of bag.
  • 11. Sew green buttons to top of each side. Attach “Magic Reindeer Feed” gift tag to bags, if desired.
