Crocheted Jute Pot Wraps


Add a touch of warmth and bling to a drab old flower pot with this easy-to-crochet jute pot wrap. Not only will it dress up your plants, but the bead accents will add a sparkle to your home décor.

Materials

  • Clay pots: 6”; 8”
  • Heavy duty jute twine, 190 ft. skein
  • Beads: Elements medium earth beads value pack; crystal glass faceted roundels, 4x6mm
  • Gold head pins, 2”

  • Crochet hook, size K
  • Crafter’s Pick The Ultimate! Glue
  • Round-nose pliers

  • 1. Fits 6” and 8” pots.

  • 1. 3 stitches = 1”
  • Large Pot Wrap
  • 1. Use crochet hook and jute twine to chain 62.
  • 2. To begin first row, make a single crochet in second chain stitch from hook. Make a single crochet in each of the remaining chain stitches.
  • 3. To begin second row, chain one. Make a single crochet in each of the single crochets.
  • 4. Repeat step 3 two more times for a total of four single crochet rows.
  • 5. To begin fifth row, chain four. Make a single crochet in fourth single crochet from hook. Chain four. Make a single crochet in seventh single crochet. Continue working four chain stitches, skipping two single crochet stitches and making a single crochet in next single crochet to end of row.
  • 6. Trim jute ends 2” from crochet and weave ends back into crochet.
  • 7. Attach a bead droplet to each of the chain loops. To make a bead droplet, place crystal bead and larger earth bead on head pin. Bend head pin over slightly. Place head pin over crocheted loop and bend until end touches top of bead.
  • 8. Glue crocheted wrap around lip of pot.
  • 9. Cut three 20” lengths from jute. Insert a jute length through crochet in top ends of wrap and tie bow. Repeat, inserting jute lengths through middle and bottom ends of wrap.
  • Small Pot Wrap
  • 1. Use crochet hook and jute twine to chain 50.
  • 2. To begin first row, make a single crochet in second chain from hook. Make a single crochet in each of the remaining chain stitches.
  • 3. To begin second row, chain one. Make a single crochet in each of the single crochets.
  • 4. Repeat step 3 one more time for a total of three single crochet rows.
  • 5. To begin fourth row, chain three. Make a single crochet in third single crochet from hook. Chain three. Make a single crochet in fifth single crochet. Continue working three chain stitches, skipping one single crochet stitch and making a single crochet in next single crochet to end of row.
  • 6. Trim jute ends 2” from crochet and weave ends back into crochet.
  • 7. Attach a bead droplet to each of the chain loops. To make a bead droplet, place flower bead and smaller earth bead on head pin. Bend head pin over slightly. Place head pin over crocheted loop and bend until end touches top of bead.
  • 8. Glue crocheted wrap around lip of pot.
  • 9. Cut three 20” lengths from jute. Insert a jute length through crochet in top ends of wrap and tie bow. Repeat, inserting jute lengths through middle and bottom ends of wrap.
