Wool Felt Penny Pillow


size: 14" square

Materials

  • Wool felt: burnt orange, 14-1/2” square; brown, 14-1/2” square; gold, 10” square
  • Various wool fabrics: 2” squares, nine; 1-1/2” circles, nine
  • Buttons, 1/2”-1”, nine
  • Orange embroidery floss, 1 skein
  • Polyester fiberfill stuffing, 1 pkg.

Basic Supplies

scissors, ruler, straight pins

Tools

  • Sewing machine and thread
  • Embroidery needle

Directions

  • 1. Pin 2” wool pieces, 1/2” apart, centered onto 10” gold wool felt square. Use embroidery floss to straight stitch around edges of wool pieces to secure on square.
  • 2. Center and pin each 1-1/2” circle on center of each 2” square. Secure circles on squares using embroidery floss and straight stitch. Sew one button on center of each circle using embroidery floss.
  • 3. Center and pin 10” square on 14-1/2” brown wool felt square. Machine sew together 1/4” from edges.
  • 4. With right sides facing, machine sew 14-1/2” squares together using 1/4" seam allowance, leaving 3” opening to turn right side out.
  • 5. Stuff pillow with polyester fiberfill. Slip stitch opening closed using embroidery floss.
  • Tip
  • 1. To simplify stuffing the pillow, insert 14” pillow form.
