Frightfully Chic Décor


Materials

Directions

  • Tree
  • 1. Use ink to stamp damasks on three sheets of white cardstock.
  • 2. Use decorative-edge scissors to cut 1-1/2” to 1/2” strips from stamped white and black cardstock.
  • 3. Completely cover cone with cardstock strips, alternating sizes of strips and ending with the 1/2” black.
  • 4. Use flat paintbrush to apply a thin coat of dècoupage medium to ball; cover with glitter and shake off excess. Let dry.
  • 5. Paint plaque black. When dry, apply varnish. Let dry.
  • 6. Trace wooden plaque onto white cardstock; trim with decorative-edge scissors and glue to plaque. Glue cone to plaque.
  • 7. Fold 1 yd. crepe paper length in half lengthwise. Gather middle of crepe paper with button thread. Pull gather to fit around top of cone, knot and trim thread and glue in place. Repeat, gathering 1-1/2 yards of black crepe paper and glue around bottom of cone.
  • 8. Use toothpicks and glue to adhere glittered ball to top of cone.
  • 9. Punch bats from black and white cardstock and glue to wooden base and randomly to cone.
  • 10. Use computer to print “Trick-or-Treat” on white cardstock. Trim greeting and secure to centerpiece with glue and straight pins.
  • Boo Décor
  • 1. Insert round toothpick into top and bottom of three 1-1/2” balls. Completely cover balls with thin even layer of modeling compound; let dry. Paint balls Parchment. Use liner to paint jack-o-lantern face as shown. Let dry.
  • 2. Trace three cone patterns onto black cardstock. Use decorative-edge scissors to cut along traced lines. Glue cardstock to cones.
  • 3. Use decorative-edge scissors to cut three 2-1/4” circles from white cardstock. Use marker to make dots around cut circle.
  • 4. Use black ink to stamp damask on white cardstock. Use decorative-edge scissors to cut three 1-1/2”x12” strips from stamped cardstock. Adhere one strip around top of each cone and trim excess. Extend strip above cone to create a well for moss and jack-o-lantern.
  • 5. Paint remaining 1-1/2” balls with one coat of decoupage medium. Apply black glitter and shake off excess. Let dry.
  • 6. For hanger, insert painted floral wire into top of cone.
  • 7. Fill cone with moss. Trim stem of jack-o-lantern (painted toothpick) and insert into top of cone.
  • 8. Glue painted letters to white circles, and circles to cones.
  • 9. Glue glittered balls to bottoms of cones.
  • BOO Décor
  • 1. Cover work area with newspaper. Spray wooden letters, paper floral wire and moss Gloss Black. Let dry.
  • Centerpiece
  • 1. Completely cover ball with thin even layer of modeling compound. Make two slight indentations with finger and a “smile” indentation for mouth. Insert 3” to 4” dowel length into bottom of ball. Let dry completely
  • 2. Paint ball Parchment. Use liner to paint eyes, nose and mouth Black. Paint mouth and eyes with Parchment. Apply varnish. Let dry.
  • 3. Glue two 5” discs together. Repeat with 8”and 10” discs.
  • 4. The center piece is constructed with graduating sizes of discs. Starting with 12” and ending on top with 5” disc. Trace each disc onto black cardstock. Use decorative-edge scissors to cut on traced lines. Center and glue cardstock circles to corresponding discs.
  • 5. Measure and cut strips of black cardstock to cover perimeter of each disc. Adhere strips to discs.
  • 6. Repeat Step 5, using decorative-edge scissors to cut white cardstock strips 1/4” smaller than black strips.
  • 7. Punch bats from white cardstock and adhere around 10” disc. Use black ink to stamp damask on white cardstock strips for 8” and 5” discs. Adhere papers to centerpiece.
  • 8. Use computer to print “Happy Halloween” on white cardstock. Trim around greeting and adhere to 5” disc. Attach brads at sides of greeting as shown.
  • 9. Trace cone pattern onto white cardstock. Trace half of cone pattern onto black cardstock. Use decorative-edge scissors to cut along traced lines. Adhere cut black bard stock onto white cardstock. Let dry. Adhere black/white cardstock to cone.
  • 10. Adhere positive punch bat shapes to 6” disc.
  • 11. Trace discs onto white cardstock and cut with decorative-edge scissors. Construct centerpiece by layering cardstock-covered discs and white cardstock circles, and securing with glue.
  • 12. Insert white jack-o-lantern head into top of cone. Press dowel into cone and glue in place. Adhere cone to top of centerpiece with glue and toothpicks.
  • 13. Fold width of 1 yard length of black crepe paper in half. Gather crepe paper with black button thread. Pull gathers to it fits around jack-o-lantern’s head. Knot and clip thread.
  • 14. Glue remaining black and white bats to centerpiece.
  • Star
  • 1. Use ink to stamp damask on white cardstock.
  • 2. Trace 8-1/2” star onto stamped and black cardstock. Use decorative-edge scissors to cut along traced lines. Glue stamped cardstock to front and black cardstock to back of star.
  • 3. Trace 6” star onto black cardstock. Use decorative-edge scissors to cut along traced lines. Glue cardstock to star.
  • 4. Layer and glue stars together as shown.
  • 5. Wrap and glue 1/4” ribbon around raw edge of 8-1/2” star.
  • 6. Trace and cut out pattern. Cut bat from white cardstock. Punch bat from black cardstock. Glue bats to front of small star.
  • 7. Use computer to print “Trick or Treat” onto white cardstock. Trim around lettering and use marker to draw dots. Glue greeting to star.
  • 8. For hanger, cut 6” ribbon length. Glue ends to back of star.
