Directions

  • Preparation
  • 1. Fill any imperfections on surface with wood filler; dry and sand smooth. Lightly sand all wood items; wipe dust. Use flat wash brush to apply one coat sealer to all wood items; dry and lightly sand.
  • 2. Use Turquoise Blue to base Franky (blue bell), inside and out, and insert. In same manner, base Igor (green bell) Hauser Lt. Green and Esmeralda (purple bell) Wild Orchid.
  • 3. Print out patterns.
  • Franky
  • 1. Refer to pattern for cheek and nostril placement. Highlight Indian Turquoise horizontally around center of "head". Use Blueberry to shade around top and bottom of bell; paint top knob and dot nostrils. Dry brush cheeks Terra Coral; when dry, tap with Autumn Red. Add Cool White tri-dot highlights to each cheek.
  • 2. For eyes, transfer basic pattern lines. Base eyeballs Warm White, irises Hauser Lt. Green, and eyelids Turquoise Blue. Shade Plantation Pine along outer edge of irises. Use thinned Plantation Pine to add lines on irises. Base pupils Soft Black; shade Slate Grey along bottom and up right sides, and use Lamp Black to darken top left. Use Green Tea to highlight iris below pupil on right side. Use Soft Black to shade along eyelid edges over eyeballs and irises. Use Blueberry to shade bottom of eyelids; highlight Indian Turquoise along top edge of eyelids. Use thinned Lamp Black to line eyelid edges.
  • Igor
  • 1. Shade Plantation Pine along top and bottom of "head". Paint top knob Hauser Lt. Green. Refer to pattern to add body markings. Use thinned Wild Orchid to paint "X's"; dot ends Royal Purple and add Autumn Red center dot. Use Autumn Red to paint along inside mouth edges.
  • 2. For eyes, transfer basic pattern lines. Base eyeballs Warm White, irises Wild Orchid, and eyelids Hauser Lt. Green. Shade Royal Purple along outer edge of irises. Use thinned Royal Purple to add lines on irises. Base pupils Soft Black; shade Slate Grey along bottom and up right sides, and use Lamp Black to darken top left. Use Lilac to highlight iris below pupil on right side. Use Soft Black to shade along eyelid edges over eyeballs and irises. Use Plantation Pine to shade bottom of eyelids; highlight Green Tea along top edge of eyelids. Use thinned Lamp Black to line eyelid edges.
  • Esmeralda
  • 1. Refer to photo for nostril and "wart" placement. Use Royal Purple to shade along top and bottom of "head"; paint top knob and paint nostrils; load berry maker to add warts. (Note: For warts, press down and twist berry maker, causing paint to squish out leaving darker ring around edges; repeat and reload as needed.)
  • 2. For eyes, transfer basic pattern lines. Base eyeballs Warm White, irises Turquoise Blue, and eyelids Wild Orchid. Shade Blueberry along outer edge of irises. Use thinned Blueberry to add lines on irises. Base pupils Soft Black; shade Slate Grey along bottom and up right sides, and use Lamp Black to darken top left. Use Indian Turquoise to highlight iris below pupil on right side. Use Soft Black to shade along eyelid edges over eyeballs and irises. Use Royal Purple to shade bottom of eyelids; highlight Lilac along top edge of eyelids. Use thinned Lamp Black to line eyelid edges.
  • Finishing
  • 1. Add Cool White highlight dot to upper left of pupils and two highlight dots to bottom right of irises.
  • 2. Spray all pieces with several light finishing coats. Apply several varnish coats over eyeballs and iris (omit eyelids) to create a wet look. Glue eyes to heads. Use pattern and photo as guide to glue eyelash clumps to eyelids. Glue inserts to bottom inside of heads.
  • 3. For teeth, use cake decorating tool or plastic freezer baggie with tip of corner snipped off to create teeth/fangs. Let dry.
  • 4. For hanger, tie 6" ribbon length to top hook. Fill mouths with creepy Halloween candies.
