Children’s Alopecia Project (CAP) was founded 10 years ago by director, Jeff Woytovich, to help bring support to children with alopecia. Alopecia is a life-altering, autoimmune disease which causes children of all ages to lose their hair. Jeff founded CAP when his daughter, five years old at the time, lost her hair. His mission has been simple but of huge impact – to help kids maintain and cultivate positive self-esteem, bring awareness to the cause, and to help support these kids and their families TODAY – knowing that down the line a cure is possible. CAP is a 501(c) 3 non-profit charity devoted to children regionally, nationally, and internationally. Based in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, support groups have been formed in 24 states in the United States, along with groups in Hong Kong, Canada, and Mexico.
In my quest to find an organization to highlight and share with our readers, two college friends, Greg and Beth, who have a daughter with alopecia, informed me of CAP and the services and community CAP has helped bring to their family.
The great news for all of us is that we can get involved by creating this super-cute Top-Knot Fleece Hat for distribution to CAP kids. Pick up a 1/3 yard of fleece for a few dollars, follow the simple cutting and sewing instructions on the next page, and then ship your hat to:
